Experience

IT ALL STARTED WHEN…

In 2012 I received an inquiry about helping Gensler with a project at Denver International Airport. I was in the Design/Build business and knew that my company’s New Jersey based offering would not be used to service a client so far from our company’s home base of operations. So instead of offering some tips and guidance as a courtesy with the expectation that work would come out of it, the folks at Gensler asked if I could assist them formally as a Specialty Consultant as part of the design team.

I had experience dealing with architects and engineers as a part of CSI - the Construction Specifications Institute, as an AIA Continuing Education provider on Bird Mitigation, and as part of my dealings in design build on major projects around the New York City Metro area and the northeast US. So I jumped in to perform design reviews, write specifications, sketch out and create renderings of what the work should look like, review submittals, then perform a QA inspection of the work performed by the local subcontractor. It was AWESOME! I loved doing the detailed planning and ensuring the results of what I had prescribed.

Next thing you know… it has been 10 years in business strictly as a consultancy helping several major architecture and engineering firms address potential problems in the design phase and working with installers big and small to ensure their projects go off without a hitch.

The work applies not only to the aviation / transportation market like the photos shown here, but to urban commercial buildings, industrial complexes, healthcare institutions, power and energy facilities, and so much more…

There is no agenda to recommend or sell any particular system or methodology. In fact, the best thing is about being independent is that we get to see results as just a matter of simple design change recommendations. We get to tell clients objectively to take a wait and see approach based on the assessment of likelihood / potential severity of problem relative to the cost or accessibility of taking care of an issue later.
